Tragic Case From The Bay Area

One week ago, Monday, January 14, 2013, a San Francisco police officer was hurt when an suspected drunken driver hit his patrol car head-on in the Mission District, at 12:48 a.m. at Mission and 19th streets.
The suspect is an unidentified 22-year-old who was speeding west on 19th Street in a BMW 328i when he drove into oncoming traffic and hit the eastbound police car, police stated. One officer complained of neck pain and was transported to a hospital.

In an unrelated incident, a pedestrian was killed when she was struck by two cars in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood on Friday evening. The victim has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 44-year-old Melissa Kitson. The drivers were not suspected of being DUI in this case. Kitson was hit at about 5:45 p.m. while crossing the street near Seventh and Howard streets.

Wrapping It All Up

Drunk drivers, as well as vehicle/pedestrian accidents continue to make San Francisco Streets dangerous, and the city’s task force is attempting to improve awareness and are taking other measures to reduce these kinds of tragic vehicle and truck accident incidents.
